Sickness Sympathy

Friday, January 28

Sadly, I have not always been the most understanding when others are sick.  I wish them well and haven't meant harm, but I now realize I really haven't done all I could to help.

Can I just say thank you to those of you who have helped this week??  I am so thankful for the soup, the errands, and the offers to pick up Dexter (that I had to turn down once you got to my door when I realized he was running a 101.3 fever!).  Let alone the calls, emails, and texts of prayers for health.

Today, I am pretty sure it is the flu.  Yes, yes, everyone told me to get the flu shot, but did I?  No.  To justify my decision I really don't remember ever having the flu.  Maybe I did as a child, but nothing that I remember.  I have really been a pretty healthy person who seems to glide along and never get sick (thus my previous lack of compassion mentioned above...).  So, why did I need a flu shot?  I was sure if I got it that I would be that person that got sick from the shot itself.

Well, at least I can say that today I finally feel a smidgen better.  I am saying this about 2 hours into my last dose of Tylenol and the first shower in days, so I could just be feeling better on the surface.  Seeing how a day or so ago I was moaning that I would rather be in labor because then I knew the agony would be over in a set amount of time, it really doesn't take much for me to say I am feeling "better".  But, I have made it through the week with a toddler, Sander will be home for two glorious days, and I see lots of sleep in my future.

And if any of you out there find yourself sick in bed, please let me know, I will be more than happy to do all I can to help you like I have been helped this week.

Before I had the flu senior year, I always thought it was just a bad cold. How wrong! Poor Whitney!

Man! That stinks. Didn't know you were so sick! It may still not be flu. EVERYONE has had this horrible fever virus that has body aches, chills, coughing, etc. Almost all of our friends have had it. Don't know why that would be better, but maybe because then you don't feel so guilty for not getting the shot?
