Birthday Party at the Zoo
Monday, February 27
Dexter was invited to a friend's 3rd birthday at the zoo. I made the mistake of mentioning the Saturday party at the beginning of the week. After that, every...single...time we got in the car it was "are we going to the zoo?", "where's the zoo?", "zoo THAT way?" Oh my gosh, it drove me crazy. So, we Saturday morning came with lightening, a flooded street, and cooler temperatures, we still thought...maybe we can go. I felt like I was in What About Bob, listening to the rain saying, "shhh shhh, I think it's letting up" when it was raining just as hard as ever.
However, the lightning passed and the waters receded on our street, and we decided to just wing it and go. We donned our Tivas (circa our time in college), rolled up our jeans, and were ready for an adventure. Heck, we survived walking around A&M day after day in worse stuff than this, we could handle the zoo for a few hours.
Seriously, it was one of the best days we have had as a family. Almost every other family came to the party and we basically had the zoo to ourselves. We went around together and had every exhibit to ourselves. Dexter loved walking and running with his little friends through the puddles and looking at all the animals. Only parents of young kids would have been desperate enough to get out in this kind of weather, and we all made the best of it with our ponchos, umbrellas, and random rain gear.

The party favor was a ride on the carousal.
We had a wonderful day and were so thankful for our hosts and for the other crazy parents and kids who made a yucky day one of the best we have had!
