Montessori Birthday Celebration
Friday, May 11
The Montessori birthday celebration was a great way to start celebrating Dexter's birthday. It began by his teacher Ms. Crockett sharing the "story of Dexter" by introducing Sander and I and saying that we met, became good friends, got married, and then decided that we had so much love to share that we would have Dexter. Sweet, right? Then she slowly shared a few pictures that we brought in of Dexter that showed him from the day he was born, till now. The children all sat so quietly and loved seeing what he looked like as a baby. He then got to pick 3 streamers and wore them on his shirt.
Then, Dexter took the earth and he got to walk around the sun 3 times as we sang a little song. Each time he went around, he would stop and the teacher would say, "now Dexter is 1 year old. What types of things was Dexter doing at 1 year?" And the same for year 2 and year 3. It is a great visual for what a year actually is for literal children.
After the birthday song, Dexter got to choose two friends to help him pass out the birthday muffins he brought to share with the class.
He loved getting to pass them out! We loved seeing the kids so happy and all waiting to eat until Dexter took the first bite. It was such a fun, sweet time!
